We're aware that we advertise our cars to be great opportunities but this one is a bit different. The "Chamonix" white BMW 2002 Turbo has been initially bought as a project car, imported from Japan 13 years ago, but the owner had too many cars at the time and the plans for this BMW never came to fruition due to the limited time. Technically this is a good car, it has been serviced every other year, fluid swap and being driven a few miles, but the body needs some attention. This is a real opportunity to either turn this car into a concours condition or make it a rock solid hobby car, with some minor modifications it could be the perfect daily driver.
We have been offered the chance to advertise and market this car with the condition to passing it to its next caretaker as the owner wants to part ways with all of his cars.
This car has an interesting story, it has been chased for 15 years because it is one of the 1672 ever produced, the owner had one during his younger years and always regretted selling it (classic story, hey!). Thinking about the examples that have been damaged beyond the possibility of repair, we believe the collectable value of this vehicle is sky high.
This model was one of the first Turbocharged vehicles ever made, I mean, who would imagine 40+ years ago that a small car powered by a 2.0 straight four cylinder engine could trash an American muscle car powered by a proper v8? I don't think anyone imagined this could be possible until the great German engineers from BMW made it happen.
The transmission is proper manual, 4 speed, and it already went through some heavy duty modifications meant to prolong the engine life like: an extra fuel injector with a programmable controller, an additional oil cooler, 15 inches "watanabe" wheels wrapped by Bridgestone tires, a turbo-back exhaust, a proper 4 point harness, etc.
This is a low compression turbocharged, Kugelfischer fuel injected, 2002tii motor making it a first of the turbocharged vehicles produced by BMW. The car has always been white but the previous owner resprayed the passenger fender and the bonnet. The car is not in perfect condition, body wise, a few rust bubbles spoil the overall condition (which is mostly great), you can see some chips here and there. We believe that the most rusty part is the passenger door, we are happy to show photos just for you guys to be sure that it is no big deal.
The interior looks very very good, it has no damage, it is very nice and also smells good. Some nice add-ons are present inside such as a fuel injection controller(found in the center console), four point seat belts, cut off switches and a set of accessory gauges. The dashboard has some surface cracks but other than that everything is fully functional.
As a bonus the car will be handed over to the new owner with a fresh service, complete fluid swap and a tuneup in order to be sure nothing needs to be addressed.
